Our Meeting With Greenville Mayor Knox White

Our Meeting With Greenville Mayor Knox White

This past Friday we had the privilage to meet with Greenville SC Mayor Knox White in his beautiful 10th floor office in City Hall with a panoramic view of downtown Greenville SC. This is a mayor who is fully engaged with the community and very accesible to the citizens and business people.  It is very clear from the minute you talk with him that he is excited to tell you about Greenville and what has been accomplished and what is planned for the future. We were especially interested in hearing about the City’s plans for a much anticipated central park along both sides of the Reedy River just west of Academy Street and west of downtown Greenville SC. He shared with us an artist’s rendition of what the City’s vision is for the park.  He mentioned that the same artist did a painting in the initial planning stages for  of our City’s crown jewel and award winning Fall’s Park.  He remarked that the original Fall’s Park painting was unbelievably accurate to what it looks like now! Some of the features of the new park the Mayor described included a outdoor amphitheater much like the one in Millennium Park in Chicago for symphony concerts and other performances.  Did you know there is a lake in this area?  Look to the north on the painting to see the plans for this lake and pedestrian bridges crossing the Reedy River.
