Dog-Friendly Spots Around Town
If you’ve met Pickles, you know she’s a true Upstate girl—she loves a good trail, a sunny patio, and the occasional puppuccino. Greenville and Travelers Rest are full of places where pups like Pickles are more than welcome—they’re treated like VIPs (Very Important Pups). Whether you’re heading out for a walk or winding down with a drink, here are our favorite dog-friendly spots in town:
Waggin' Wednesdays with the Greenville Swamp Rabbits
For a unique twist on your typical dog-friendly outing, check out the Greenville Swamp Rabbits' Waggin' Wednesdays. Held during Wednesday home games at the Bon Secours Wellness Arena, these events welcome fans to bring their dogs along for an evening of hockey excitement. The arena provides water bowls around the concourse, and dogs must be leashed at all times. One of the highlights is the "Small Dog Race on Ice," where little pups can dash across the rink during intermission—a spectacle that's as entertaining for the audience as it is for the participants. It's a fantastic way to enjoy local sports while spending quality time with your furry friend.
Swamp Rabbit Trail
This one’s a classic. The Swamp Rabbit Trail is our go-to for long walks, short strolls, and everything in between. It stretches from Downtown Greenville through Furman and into Travelers Rest, with tons of scenic spots and shady stops. Perfect for burning energy and making new four-legged friends.
The Community Tap – Travelers Rest & North Main
Both locations are super dog-friendly with spacious outdoor areas. You’ll find water bowls, shade, and lots of other pups to mingle with. Pickles is a regular at the Travelers Rest spot—we love the laid-back vibe, rotating food trucks, and mountain views.
Furman University Lake Walk
Pickles gives this one two paws up. The paved loop around Furman’s lake is peaceful and perfect for dogs of all sizes. There are plenty of places to stop and take in the view (or take a water break). Bonus: it’s super close to the trail, so you can make a whole morning of it.
Southernside Brewing Co. – Downtown Greenville
Located just off the Swamp Rabbit Trail, this brewery has a huge outdoor patio that’s always buzzing with locals and their dogs. They’re known for good beer, a great food menu, and being extra welcoming to furry friends. Bring a leash and stay awhile.
Swamp Rabbit Brewery – Travelers Rest
A must-stop after walking the trail. Swamp Rabbit Brewery has a big outdoor area, live music, and a super relaxed vibe. Pickles loves lounging here after a long stroll, and there are always other pups around to say hi to.
Unity Park
This new downtown park has quickly become a local favorite. With wide-open green space, walking paths, and river views, it’s a great spot for dogs to explore (on leash). It’s right next to several breweries and eateries, so you can turn a walk into a full afternoon outing.
Double Stamp Brewery & Home Team BBQ Patio
Over near Holland Park, Double Stamp is super dog-friendly with a huge outdoor beer garden shared with other local businesses. Home Team BBQ next door has a killer patio where dogs are welcome—and the vibe is super fun and casual.
Conestee Nature Preserve
If your dog loves to sniff and explore, this one’s a gem. With miles of shaded trails and boardwalks, it’s peaceful, beautiful, and just a short drive from downtown Greenville. Bring water and bug spray—Pickles says it’s worth it!
Pickles' Pro Tips for Paws Out & About:
Morning or evening walks are best in summer
Always bring water and waste bags
Leashes are a must at most places (even when your pup is perfect)
Don’t forget the treats!
Whether you're here for the weekend or call the Upstate home, there’s no shortage of places to explore with your pup. Pickles and I are always discovering new favorites—so stay tuned for more tails from the trail. 🐕
